We have a fantastic season of festive fun and winter wonder at Sandwell Museums with something for all ages to enjoy including Santa's grotto, beautifully decorated houses, candlelight evenings, family fun, festive performances, talks, craft activities and more.
Where tickets are required they will be available from the second week in November if you do not see them available yet.

Santa’s Grotto: Saturday 30 November, Saturday 7 December and Sunday 8 December, booked timeslots from 11am – 3pm. Visit Santa in his Grotto! Make reindeer food, explore the house with a festive trail. Tearoom open. Tickets are £4.50 each which includes a small present. Reindeer food costs £1.00. Due to limited space inside the Grotto, we would suggest no more than two accompanying adults per booking. All ages welcome. Booking essential via ticketsource.
Festive Open Day: Tuesday 10 December, 11am – 3pm. Drop in and explore this fantastic historic house dressed for the festive season, learn about a medieval Christmas, have a go at making a pomander and enjoy a cuppa and festive snack in our tearoom. Entry free, just drop in.
AIM (Adults in Museums) Candle Making with Caico Candles: Tuesday 10 December, 11.30am. Spend a cosy day with us making a festive candle in our decorated Great Hall. Price is £10.00 per person which includes a hot drink and a mince pie. Booking essential via ticketsource.
The Toymaker: 14 December, shows at 11.30am and 2pm. Enjoy this fabulous festive family show inspired by traditional stories from around the world. Visit the Toymaker in his workshop as he prepares to go out on his deliveries. A storytelling performance, performed by one actor who skilfully animates various puppets and props to weave together all the differing stories to create a funny, anarchic, moving and beautiful journey through various cultures and makes for visually stunning theatre.
This performance is recommended for children 5 years and over. All children must be accompanied by an adult and all attending will need a ticket.
The suggested ticket price is £4 per person but we are offering tickets at 'pay what you can' and you can change the ticket price when booking. Book at ticketsource
Christmas Tunes with Ian Casey: Thursday 19 December, 7.30pm. Our annual favourite festive musical event with all your favourite Christmas songs from across the decades. A festive foot tapper! Tickets cost £5.00. Drinks and mince pies will be available to purchase from our tearoom. Suitable for ages 10+. Booking essential via ticketsource.

Letters to Santa Sunday 24 November 11am-3pm. See the house decorated for Christmas and pick up a pack to decorate your letter to Santa then post it in our magical post-box. No need to book. Small charge to decorate letter.

Christmas at Haden Hill House and Haden Old Hall. Sunday 1, Sunday 8, Sunday 15 December 11am-3pm. See the houses beautifully decorated for the season, join in with Christmas crafts, listen to the festive music and enjoy light refreshments. Free entry, no need to book to view the houses, small charge for crafts and refreshments.
A Candlelit Christmas Thursday 5 December. 6:00pm-8:30pm. Visit Haden Hill House and Haden Old Hall and see them beautifully decorated for the festive season in traditional style and lit beautifully. Enjoy live music, entertainers and refreshments, join in the carols and get that festive glow. This is an event aimed at adults, but children are welcome. Pre-booking essential at ticketsource.co.uk/sandwell-museums-and-arts. £5.00per person giving you access to both houses. Entrance will be timed but you can then stay as long as you like and go in and out of the houses as you please.
Christmas Candle Making: Thursday 12 December 11.30am. AIM Adults In Museums. £10 per participant. Please book at ticketsource where there will be further information. Make a festive candle to take home which includes a hot drink and a mince pie.

Aladdin: Saturday 7 December 11am and 1pm. Aladdin is a festive favourite for pantos everywhere. Join us at Wednesbury Museum Saturday 7 December, Performances at 11am and 1pm. Join us again for a fantastic affordable festive panto in the surroundings of the beautiful Wednesbury Museum. Soap Making Workshop: Thursday 5 December 10.30am. Join Jenn and Leah and make some indulgent festive soaps. £8.50 booking will be available via ticketsource. There are a couple of free places for carers (AIM)
Festive Open Day and local history talk: Thursday 12 December 11am-3pm. Come and see our Museum and Art Gallery decorated for the festive season. Visit our Nostalgia rooms with the traditional 60s and 70s decorations. At 11.30am you can also enjoy a fantastic nostalgic talk about cinemas we have lost in Sandwell by Maureen Waldron, outreach officer for archives. Tea, coffee and mince pies available. Open to all ages. Free Entry – no booking required.
Festive Picnic and Piano: Wednesday 4 December, 7-9pm. Join us for an evening of festive tunes, old and new from our regular pianist, Matt Goodwin. Craft Club: From September 25. Every Wednesday 10:00-12.30pm (excluding school half terms and holidays). Join us as we start our new craft club, bring your knitting and crochet projects or anything else you may be working on! We will have jigsaws and games available and throughout the coming months we will explore different natural arts and activities to help with feelings of calmness and creativity! Little Acorns Breastfeeding Network infant feeding drop-in support session. Every Wednesday 12.30pm – 2pm (excluding half terms). Drop-in support group creating a free, safe space for parents to meet other parents, ask questions and access evidence-based information on all aspects of breastfeeding/chest feeding and infant feeding for babies of all ages. Ideal For All Coffee Mornings: Every Wednesday 11:00-1:00pm. Ideal For All support the independence of disabled people living in Sandwell. These groups are an opportunity to have some social time with others in a similar situation to yourself. We run a coffee morning every week at Oak House for anyone who would like to catch up with old friends and make new ones. A friendly atmosphere where you will be welcomed with tea/coffee, biscuits and a smile. Free Entry.

Festive Relaxation and Soundbath at the Oak House: Sunday 1 December 11:30-12:30pm
As we move into the festive period our lives can become busier and more chaotic, when actually what we might need is more rest and hibernation. In this session at the Oak House West Bromwich, you will be guided through a gentle meditation, leaving you open to receiving the relaxing sounds of Tibetan singing bowls, crystal bowls, drums, and gongs. You may leave feeling calmer and refreshed in body and mind. Afterwards you are invited to celebrate the festive period and stay for hot drinks and cake. Yoga mats and some blankets will be provided, but please bring a pillow, additional blankets and whatever you need to get comfortable resting on the floor. If you do not feel comfortable on the floor, chairs can be provided. Suitable for older children and adults. £10.00 per person. Candlelight Evening at Oak House: Friday 13 December 6:00-9:00pm. Join us for an evening of history, music and festivities. Enjoy the atmosphere in the Oak House which will be dressed for Christmas and illuminated by candlelight, whilst listening to historical live music by Andy Casserley from The Night Watch. Hear a few hair-raising ghost stories – it is Friday 13 after all! Try your hand at historical games. Weather permitting our servants will be demonstrating 17th century nail making. Tea room open for festive refreshments. Last admission to site is 8.00pm, site closes 9.00pm. Ideal for adults and older children but all ages are welcome. £2.50 per person, Free entry for children under 3.

Sedgley Ukelele Strummers: Friday 20 December. 7:30-9:15pm. Get in the festive spirit with the wonderful Ukelele Strummers, get ready to sing along, have a dance and have a thoroughly good time! You can also visit the house decorated for Christmas before the show and enjoy a free festive drink and a treat in the interval. Doors open at 6.00pm. All ages welcome.
